Two years ago we competed in the Solar Decathlon and won 1st place in market viability and people’s choice with the BeauSoleil Home, proving that green design can be affordable, constructable and livable.

At that time, the Chairman of the Lafayette Public Trust Financing Authority, approached us with the idea to collaborate on a market-rate home in one of the at-risk neighborhoods around downtown and the university. We of course were delighted and in the fall of 2010 my graduate architecture studio took on this design challenge.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Drexel University have been awarded funding by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to create the Center for Visual and Decision Informatics (CVDI).

A computer-based educational game developed by UL Lafayette’s Center for Innovative Learning and Assessment Technologies and Texas A&M is a finalist for a prestigious award.

Stacy Crochet, outstanding graduate in computer science in 2003, lead the programming of the educational game.

The game won a 2011 Adobe Design Achievement Award in the Innovation in Interactive Media in Education category.

Phoenix, a team of children ages 9-11, won two 1st place awards at the First Lego League Louisiana Championship, beating 56 other teams. Phoenix was awarded 1st in the robotic competition and 1st in research presentation. The team participants included Dominic Marcantel, Joseph Marcantel, Francisco Pagan, Grant Thomas, Aaron Williams, and Caleb Williams.

eographia, an iPad app for teaching US states and capitals, has been selected by Apple as a "staff favorite".  The app was designed and built by CILAT in the College of Education. 

Some of CILAT's other designs include HydroViz and RiggleFish.

The Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON) has been awarded a 3 year $13 million dollar grant “The Effects of the Macondo Oil Spill on Coastal Ecosystems’ to address the impacts of the oil, dispersed oil, and dispersant on the ecosystems of the Gulf of Mexico.  The award involves 26 investigators from 12 institutions, including LUMCON, Louisiana State University, the LSU AgCenter, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and 8 other universities outside of Louisiana.  The general aim is to improve fundamental understanding of the dynami

LAFAYETTE, La. – A UL partnership with the Picard Center and LITE has produced a project that visually displays longitudinal data on individuals in Louisiana from birth into the workforce.  The project, titled “Pathways to Louisiana’s Future,” will be showcased for the first time to the general public during LITE’s Open House on Friday, August 19 from 3-6 p.m.

LITE (The Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise) in the UL Research Park will be hosting an Open House on Friday, Aug. 19 to showcase some of the most recent projects, as well as the progress that has been made in regards to commercializing research efforts.  Featured presentation will include visualization of geological data, immersive virtual learning environments, and exploring medical data.
